Got out today for a few hours with a friend on a small pond in the lakes region . Had 4"-5" of good ice . I had a hard time finding minnows , the circle gas station had none, bears bait in AB was closed , and the blue gas station in Farmington/New Durham on 11 didn't have any yet. Ended up at fish tales , I think he will be my first stop from now on. Anyway, made it to the pond with a dozen shiners of all sizes and a pack of dillies . I set up 4 tip ups in 4fow-12fow , 2 with dillies and 2 with shiners .
Had a couple flags right away on dillies . Both hit and spit .
1st fish of the day I let my buddy (who has never ice fished) land, it was a 14" LM caught on a shiner .
2nd and last fish of the day was a 16" LM caught on a shiner.
Beautiful day to be on the ice, sun was shinning and fairly calm this morning.
Action slowed and the wind started to pick up around 1pm so we packed it in for the day .
