Wow! Be cautious?
« on: Jan 02, 2016, 02:26 PM »
??? ::)  Checked one of my local trout ponds and found a little over an inch of ice along the shore!   Two easy hits with dull  chisel found water.
BUT!  ::) ::)   For two hundred yards out someone had drilled holes to fish!!   Hope they caught trout, but I will worry about them this weekend >:(   Please, everyone, be careful!    Three inches should be a minimum.   I need at least 4 inches of clear ice and I don't expect that until mid week.

I've fished on 2 inches of black ice but only in waist deep water. I wont trust this frozen slush until it's at least 4".

I checked out Partridge Lake in Littleton this am, I walked out about four feet and  a huge crack started between my feet.  :) I'm thinking next weekend will be the start of ice fishing up here for me !

??? ::) Thanks, You saved me a trip to Patridge Lake.   If that shallow cove hasn't formed good ice yet it probably won't be walkable until Wed.

freezing temps for a couple of days and then temps in the 40's isn't helping around here.

::) ::)  Sorry!  Your going to have to travel north.  I'll probably have to use my power auger by next weekend!
