My family and a buddy's family made our annual trip to Castle Rock (we're from IN) right before Christmas. This was our 3rd year. Obviously no ice yet at Castle Rock, we headed north until we found ice. Stopped at Kurt's in Minocqua - and he helped us out-of-towners find 2 different areas of walkable ice. He was VERY helpful and his shop is top notch. I was very impressed. Anyway, we ended with about 35 gills / crappie and a chunky pike. Enough to feed us, the wives, and 5 boys under 12! Long day, 6 hrs driving for 5 hrs of fishing - Felt so great being on the ice and the area up there is amazing - i've never had to guard the fish from bald eagles before! Anyway, thanks for all the hospitality!
