have u ice fished it before or not and if so whats in it were taking a family trip to idaho for christmas was gonna buy a licence and try

Howdy TH,  There may be a few bays that are safe in an extreme  & long lasting winter siege.  We don't get those often enough to be considered the rule.  The depths and flow through prevent total freeze-over but, it has happened.    If the budget allows, a boat with a warm cabin could be hired.  But it's spendy.     There are other lakes within a few miles and a few have a dock/pier to access fishable water.  If you would like a few contacts or phone numbers, just ask.

Like gator said, lake CDA rarely freezes over and for sure it will not have safe ice by Christmas. There are other smaller and shallower lakes close by CDA but unsure if we'll have safe ice on them yet.
