Did the most recent SUV going through the ice make it into the news?  I can't find a story on it.

I'm not sure it did.

Anybody have any reports for driving on by the pier at Regina Beach?  Thinking of heading out tomorrow but it's been awfully warm lately.

Hey  Dashboardlight,
I was the one that you met at Craven on the way out.
The fish were slow but a great day overall.

I didn't see anything on the news either about the suv going through at Regina beach.  But i heard it went through the ice at the point were there is open water.  The same spot  the truck fell through awhile back.   I have seen lots of people fishing just north of the open water.

Hi all,
Did any of you attend the Holdfast And District Mens Service Club 4th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament that was on today?

If so, how did you do and what was the biggest fish of each species?

What was the mystery fish? ???

Tourney was won by a guy with biggest burbot. Fishing was slow overall with 38 fish caught. Regardless, it's a great time!!

Well 4 of us made it out today and didn't fair too well. Tip ups weren't producing near what they were the last few times. Caught 2 small jack. Jigging was just as slow only thing we could manage all day was 2 very very small walleye,1 small perch, 2 small burbot and about 50 tulibee. Only thing showing signs of life were the tulibee all day. Going to try a new spot next time see if I can find the fish!

I spent most of the day yesterday at the regional. Got lucky and landed 7 pike and a burbot. I kept one pike and the burbot to eat.
Instead of smelts I was using Herring that a friend gave me to try. They are a little thicker profile than the smelts and the pike seem to like em. I used one home made tipup and one jigging rod. Both were baited with quick strike rigs and both produced a few fish.
Old fishermen never die, they just smell that way.

Where were you fishing at Hendersons? I don't have first hand info from this year, but if you head out to the middle of the lake in about 30 feet, you might find some perch.  I did hear though Etters (further north) was slow so Henderson's might be too.  If you want walleye you might have to go further south closer to midway road (middle of the lake) and find some deeper water.  Your best bet this time of the year is pike and burbot I'd say.  Where are you staying?  Go further south and find one of the main sand points in the lake and you should find pike/burbot.

How's the ice around etters? Are you able drive on with a truck?

Haven't been there, but I can't see there being any issue.  There is hardly any snow on the lake.

There is a discussion about it on the Tobin thread now if you haven't seen it already.

Just wondering what was the biggest perch caught this year. My best was 1lb 5 oz. I've heard of some bigger ones but am curious how big there is. I've been fishing between Etter's and hendersons and it's been slow.

Fished south of etters yesterday and today. Managed to get 8 burbot and a couple pike over the two days. Pretty tough fishing right now hopefully the burbot spawn gets into full swing soon!

Fished south of sarnia again this weekend and the pike were relentless on the tip-ups once again. Limits weren't an issue but catching small
enough ones to keep are!!! Nothing Monsterous but we did manage to ice a couple of 11lber's. Lot's in that 31-32" range (7lbers) along with a few dogfish. Lots of smoked pike, pickled pike and canned pike will be in the works real soon. Ice is still good and not an issue even after last weeks warm weather. Good luck everyone and safe fishing.

I was at LML's regional park area on Feb. 26th and 27th. Great spring like weather on the 26th. I caught 2 pike this time. 1 was 35.6" and the other 25".  :)

The 2nd day I was out there again. I was fishing in a bizzard for a part of the afternoon and found 3 pike at 31.7" 26.3" and 28.9". ;)

I chatted with a few anglers each day and they were having the same luck as me or no luck at all.

There were also a few flocks of Canada geese flying around in the snow the 2nd afternoon. :o
