First fish this winter!
« on: Mar 18, 2015, 02:17 AM »
Believe it or not, finally got out on an actual ice-fishing trip.  Been away a lot this winter, none of it where I could fish.

Anyway, today I drove out to Little Atlin Lake to try and get some whitefish for supper.  Here's my first fish of the season, caught in seven feet of water, 24" of ice, jigging a small, inch and a half, orange twister tail jig two feet below the ice.

Of course, I left my camera at home..... ???  We have a good five weeks left, so will make up for the late start.

Best,
Ted

Hey Ted!!!
I was out twice early in the season but have not been out since the second week of the tourney.
Hence my lowly 3rd place finish in the pike division.  ;D
Been working on getting my lake property ready to build on this year.
Just about ready to haul lumber out before the snow and ice disappear. ;)
Had to build a nice komatik for hauling as well.

This is 1000#'s of 6x6's and you couldn't even tell it was back there.

Smaller 600# load of 8x8's

This is sitting in my driveway waiting for me to load onto the trailer and haul up the ice road.
Then it's unload, put on komatik haul to site 1/2 mile away and unload again.
Should be in pretty decent shape by the fall.

So you see I have been busy as well.

Going to be a fine supper, indeed!  Will be cooked in the oven in our clay baker with some butter and a tiny bit or oregano.
