Its been a great winter, But Im starting to get the itch. Bigger fish to fry in a much bigger sea, And days so smoking hot we hide under the canopy for a little shade. Looking forward to season 2015 on the dreamcatcher

I'm definitely ready to go out again Wes!  We had a challenging day with 4-6' waves but it was a blast. Here's a few pictures I managed while trying to not go flying off the deck.

Great pictures. Brings back many memories. Used to fish Raritan bay and Delaware bay and the wreaks off the coast of NJ. Miss the salt water.

Great pics!
I love to ice fish, but I don't get it when anglers say they would rather ice fish than any other type of fishing... Give me busting tuna anytime over cutting holes in the ice!!!!

Yes that's a Wolfy and I don't think there is any cod available right now in t shirt weather, so we will have to keep drilling holes for now

I go quite a few times each season off the coast of NH for cod, haddock and pollock. Fly in the ointment this year with the new regs. Not sure how I'll fill the freezer with all that yummi fish with the closure of the Gulf of Maine for Cod.

Depends on where the bite is... I also deckhand on a charter boat in harpswell maine

BFT we dock at pine point/cape porpoise/ rye or gloucester. Gotta follow the bite.

Cod closures are only in effect by a pre-determined square area at a pre determined date... There are still open areas.

Unfortunately the closures and new regs impact the guy I usually go out with out of Rye, NH. Really sucks that the feds have determined the fish are in trouble...seeing how I go several times every year and last year was great. I think it is all BS. They will end up putting the small charter guy out of business. Typical government miss management.

I think they are actually after the big charter guy, they make a lot of money on taking people fishing and the feds don't think they get enough of it

Great pics!  I'm really jealous.  I can almost imagine hearing Dave and Sandro on Tuna.Com griping about all the "googans".

Looked on my charter captns site and he is selling his 2 boats and moorings. Couldn't justify staying in business with the new regs. Too bad he has been doing it for around 30 years and was a class act.

I for one have had some very memorable moments out on the rough water. In 2013, my friend offered to take me out to Wells, Maine to go fishing for stripers on a charter. It was hard to go to sleep the night before heading out, since I had no idea what it would be like or if we would catch any fish. When the alarm rang out I jumped up and everyone was scrambling around getting ready, there was a sort of powerful excitement in the air. We met our Captain down at the docks early in the morning. The charter's name was Don's First Light, which is a play on word's since the captain's name is Don and he likes to be at the docks before sunrise, but that's beside the point. We headed out of Well's harbor, ready to meet the day. After putting around for a little bit, we found a huge school of bass that were right up near shore. Using a bobber and a live mackerel that we had caught earlier that morning, Don would cast our lines out into the middle of the school and you would get to see the fish make huge boils on the surface as they darted away from the sudden disturbance. There was probably 50+ fish in this one school! My adrenaline was pounding when I hooked up with the first fish, it was a smaller one, but I was wicked proud of my first striped bass. We kept on chasing the school as they moved down the shoreline. It was amazing to be able to look down and see the beasts swimming right under the boat. It wasn't long before I hooked up with a monster! I fought the fish for at least 15 minutes before it even started to tire. I wasn't sure who was going to run out of energy first, the fish or me! I finally got it up to the boat and I was amazed at the size of it. Don lifted the huge fish aboard. It measured 44" and weighed 32 lbs. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. My Dad was following Don's Facebook page at the time and got to see the action as it was happening, it's too bad he couldn't of been their! I ended up deciding to release it so that other's could maybe catch the beast again.

Notice how calm it is! It was a beautiful morning!
