In Fisherman Article-Power Dropping Panfish
« on: Jan 11, 2006, 08:25 AM »
??? just read an article in my Jan 2006 In Fisherman called Power Dropping Panfish. they credit Brian "Bro" Brosdahl with developing this method of using a large bell sinker on the bottom and different types of lures or baits as droppers above it, kind of like drop shotting, even going so far as to calling it the "Bro Dropper".   As i read the article i realized that it was a method that we have been using around here for years. I'm not taking credit for it, i copied it from other guys using it, but it sure ain't new.
Any thoughts???????  :-\ :-\ :-\

Where I fish in NY guys have been using that method for as long as I can remember.  It sounds like reinventing the wheel.

I stopped getting the In-Fisherman because of the repetition of information under different titles.

I'm by no means an expert fisherman, but I've heard of this technique for years!  I hate it when people take credit for stuff like that, much like when Al Gore tried to steal my thunder for inventing the internet!!! ;)

I think we are putting way to much into who created this and the fact that Bro is getting all the credit...This is the second if not third thread about it...

I thought the article was good...I had not heard of the technique and learned somthing new that I can use...I didnt care who created..Thats why i read In-Fisherman to learn about proven techniques and learn new stuff...

I began using it about 2 years ago but I would use a palomar knot  instead of his knot. Haven't tried his knot.

What do you guys prefer?

Im all for the strong easy knot...and the dropper knot in the article is very easy to do even with cold fingers and it seems to hold up. I have not tried to use a palomar since I use drop shot hooks in the summer I dont need one and this is my first winter trying dropping

Im with 'icejunky'. It dosent matter to me who really created it as long as it works. I just started using it a couple years ago in some of the sand pits along the interstate near my hometown in Nebraska. Its especially good to get in and round the cat tails without too much risk of loosing my set-up. I find it works really well using a suspending rubber minnow that has been marinated in a bit of anise and garlic powder.
Try it out and lemme know what you think of the marinade.
