Beaver Dam Tipups

I see some sponsors carry Beaver Dams. One may have this one and another that one but not this one. Anywhere where all current and past that are available can be purchased?

Online auction site is about it.  Trouble is that BD makes certain boards for certain companies so youll never find them all at one retailer.

You can get a few direct from Uncle Josh. Not sure what the quality of the new offerings are.

Quality is as good as it ever was.  Aside from wishing theyd have kept the soldered spools the new ones should last as long as the ones I inherited from my Gramps.

Good to hear!

I have 2 that are 35 years old and the other 4 are knocking on 20 years old.
I am guessing I will never need to buy another BD.

I picked up a couple of the 12" round BD at Fleet Farm that were on sale at $45.  I like round tipups and need a couple when I fish out of 10" holes.  Anyways, these are my first BDs and I noticed they don't have a post coming off the spool to reel line back on.  Instead of trying to reel from the top T post, I wet my index finger and used it as a post.  Every other tipup I've owned has the plastic spool with a post.  Are there any tricks or mods for this type of spool?  I was thinking of trying something magnetic, like one of those small pieces from a Magnetics toy kit.  The neat thing is I would just take it off while the tipup is in the water.

@ Knife2sharp: They've been like that since the beginning of time, you aren't missing a thing. BTW, your method of dealing with it is exactly what all the long time BD user do here....

I like the little handles on my Polars. A clever guy might modify the BD spools, A drill, a rivet, a little JB or solder...... there's possibilities.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

There is a little wood winder that fits over the shaft they sell but you could easily make one for pennies Im sure.

Mills Fleet Farm has a gadget that fits over the BD spool, and allows you to wind it up.  I am trying to google it, but can't locate it.

It was mentioned on a recent Gillespie episode.

This was what Gillespie had on: Fishing Accessories

I saw it too but couldn't locate it until I was in Fleet Farm today. They've got 'rm hanging on the rack
