Ice Stopper
« on: Feb 01, 2015, 12:38 PM »
Anyone have any experience with Ice Stopper? It's an antifreeze/slip bobber type dohicky for use with above water style tip ups/slammers/auto fisherman. Line threads thru the gizmo which contains the biodegradeable anti freeze. Hole will freeze but your line is free and not frozen to the ice.

I got one last year to try with my windlass tipups. The vinyl line was really too thick to work very well. I bagged it with the thought of modifying but never got to it. Other than that I have not....

Many years ago In-Fish had a DIY solution for the Ice Stopper. Just a wood disc with a plastic tube thru it. They filled the tube with some sort of oil (mineral, veg) IIRC but a PG/water solution would be a lot less messy. Here's what it kinda looked like, just imagine it painted black:

To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!
