WASECA — Authorities have identified the Austin man who died Thursday in a Waseca fish house as 41-year-old William Blom, Waseca County Sheriff Brad Milbrath announced Friday.
An autopsy performed Thursday by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Blom's death was caused by carbon monoxide poisoning. He had been ice fishing on Clear Lake with his father, who first alerted authorities to the situation at about noon.
"Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Blom family," Sheriff Milbrath wrote on the department's Facebook page.
The Waseca Fire Department and North Ambulance assisted at the scene.
