Yes just take a lengnth of 3/4 electrical conduit cut 2- 3 ft sections squeeze the ends in a vise flat drill holes to attach than bolt a loop end to the front angle peice and there you have it works great! about 10 bucks to make..

Oh ya make sure you have 2 eye bolts attached to jet sled.

Today, I took a 6’ length of 1 inch black pvc I had left over from our water line. and cut it in half. Then I took the rope that comes with the sled and ran it through the 2 pieces of pvc. That left about two feet of rope, 1 ft doubled. I then tied that to my sled hitch. Hey! it worked great and cost me nothing. I know..... :cookoo: ;)

The rope is tied back to the sled as usual and the pipe forms a V with the top of the V being the rope that attaches to the sled hitch.

Sebago bait sells them

$29.00 for everything directly from Shappell and we have plenty. What is your time worth, once you get done running around and buying electrical conduit. Just to let you know I will sell you that as well, as we have lifts of the stuff in the yard. Easier to buy the box for $29.00.

Not sure what one you have, but that ($29.00) works excellent for the Jet Sled 1 and Jr. The XL should go up to the HD (heavy duty) hitch which I think is about $46.00. We have them both, so please take a look.

Get a scrap piece of 4" angle bar 1/2" thick cut it to the proper length  drill out holes for both edges and cut or grind to shape  hinge and pivot option should be thought of.  29.00 to 50.00 bucks is the quickest option.

I’m gonna modify this with coated 1/4” cable, cable clamps and a large clip to attach to sled hitch. I’ll never need anything else. NO Driiling or lime consuming fabrication or unnecessary expenditure. Just tighten down a couple of cable clamps attach clip and yer done. I may look for a better hook sled attachment, but it is not necessary.  Since I already have the cable on a an old boat winch, All I will spend $2 on is the clip.
Really though, If you want it now for no money; the rope it comes with and 2 x 3’ pieces of black well line pvc and a slip not will do it.

Right...29.00 for a pre made tow bar is a no brainer. Take the extra couple saved hours and go collect bottles on the side of the road. You will make your money back in no time. ;D ;D ;D

I think the point here is to use your brain, save time and money, do it yourself, not have someone from China make it for ya and have a little fun making something on yer own in less time than it would take to drive to a store.

I’ll post a pic tomorrow, when I get the cable set up done.

It’s a brainer ;)

I have the otter sleds and went and bought the hitches for them.  Hauling too much $$ behind the sled to chance it with crap or homemade set ups   Seen too many damage the sleds and equipment just trying to get by or be cheap.   ESP when you spend 250 bucks on a sled and assessorys

I have tried several of these Shapple tow hitches and they all seem to come apart at the eyelet for whatever the reason.

so I have upgrade to something a little more heavy duty and they are just a few bucks more.

This is the HD version I believe, much stronger than the lighter one first pictured.

HD version, much stronger

I wonder if too much impact, stat to stop, wears too much. It might be adding some flex to the arms would be an advantage.

Works great and has lasted a lot longer than the  30 dollar jet sled one, went through 3 of those  before I made my own.If you have the time to read these threads,You have the time to make one.And if I can make one, anybody can.
