anyone ever make there own tow hitch for there jet sled ? would like some ideas on how to make one
Yes just take a lengnth of 3/4 electrical conduit cut 2- 3 ft sections squeeze the ends in a vise flat drill holes to attach than bolt a loop end to the front angle peice and there you have it works great! about 10 bucks to make..Oh ya make sure you have 2 eye bolts attached to jet sled.
Sebago bait sells them
$29.00 for everything directly from Shappell and we have plenty. What is your time worth, once you get done running around and buying electrical conduit. Just to let you know I will sell you that as well, as we have lifts of the stuff in the yard. Easier to buy the box for $29.00.
Today, I took a 6 length of 1 inch black pvc I had left over from our water line. and cut it in half. Then I took the rope that comes with the sled and ran it through the 2 pieces of pvc. That left about two feet of rope, 1 ft doubled. I then tied that to my sled hitch. Hey! it worked great and cost me nothing. I know..... The rope is tied back to the sled as usual and the pipe forms a V with the top of the V being the rope that attaches to the sled hitch.

I like DIY stuff, puts a little pride into your gear. Pics would be great!
I have tried several of these Shapple tow hitches and they all seem to come apart at the eyelet for whatever the reason.(Image removed from quote.)so I have upgrade to something a little more heavy duty and they are just a few bucks more.(Image removed from quote.)
HD version, much stronger
Works great and has lasted a lot longer than the 30 dollar jet sled one, went through 3 of those before I made my own.If you have the time to read these threads,You have the time to make one.And if I can make one, anybody can.
