Mora Lazer conversion?
« on: Jan 13, 2015, 08:08 PM »
So,over the summer I installed a Lazer conversion kit on my 7" Mora .  I installed new Swedish blades.  I followed the video closely.  I went out yesterday and it was terrible!  I couldn't drill  more than a single revolution and when the auger finally broke through, it was not with a smooth round cylindrical hole, but a sort of slot to the water.  What did I do wrong?

I know someone else bought one of those conversion but never said if it worked or not. Maybe they are just another gimmick.

Those lazers have to maintain the pitch they need to drill. I think that is probably off. If they are not the same they are working against each other.

I rewatched the installation video, took the thing apart, and switched the blades and blocks.  I took it out yesterday and it cut better but not as good as the Mora before the conversion.  An email to the manufacturer has had no response.  I'm going to chalk this one up and go buy a Lazer.
