I don't generally crab much but the Reports & Conditions board is getting  packed with everything but "Reports and Conditions"?. When I go to the Reports and Conditions board that is exactly what im looking for "REPORTS & CONDITIONS". I have noticed that  some boards have gotten to be nothing but discussions about everything but REPORTS & CONDITIONS. Please use the GENERAL BOARD for GENERAL TOPICS you want to discuss as that is what it's there for. Stay On Top, Utes

Okay guys, I totally agree with you.  The reports and conditions boards are for just that.  I'm going to create a post detailing the guidelines which must be followed on the Reports and Conditions Board.  Hang tight.

it almost seems like there should be 2 boards for each body of water one for reports and conditions and one for general chit chat about that particular body of water. but i suppose if an individual wanted to talk about a body of water, other than reports or conditions, the could just open a topic in ny general. but that obviously isnt bieng done

BUt when theres a post from day 1 taht saus 5-6" and then we get very little ran or warm weather and a guy on day 2 asks how the ice is...

How about an hour later? It happened today!

I don't mind the banter as long as it doesn't get too out of control.

I would say that those rules are a little on the strict side, especially when most probably dont care about a little off-topic chat going on.  If you don't want to read some of the stuff, it's not too difficult to scroll past it... If hali-man ever gets his biting-tongue smiley, I think I need a crying smiley, because lately it seems as though some people will complain about anything and everything...

Maybe we need more ice on the lakes to report about...

I'm Glad 99% of the replys agree with me on this. No one should have to SCROLL down past a bunch of stuff that should'nt be there anyway. I mean, there were starting to be novels written on alot of thread's that had nothing to do w/ reports and conditions.NO ONE IS CRYING and  believe me, I have alot to do and scrolling past all the non-related stuff is slowing me down.Give me the meat and i'm gone. I'll also do the same. Tommyboy, have ya read the replys? Did you say most don't care? I beg to differ. I did'nt start this topic to be put on the spot. I simply wanted to open up our eye's to the fact that the report and condition board was getting full of chit -chat that could be done on the general board. Not to mention that that is where it should be done. If you feel a need to write a story about something other than a report/condition send the person a PM or go to the general board. By the way, there is a crying smiley :'(. Stay On Top, Utes

It's an old problem..been around from the start of the R&C board.

The alternate problem comes from starting a report thread in the New York General forum.

Really I look for information regarding what experiences others have been having, period.  Should someone not be paying attention to previous posts then shame on them however all the complaining in the world will not stop it.  My suggestion is to just ignore it and most of the time it will go away.

The most useful part of this so far for me has been the information and helpfulness of the guys posting.  You guys have forgotten more about ice fishing than I know so I am really just trying to be a sponge.

Have a great week.

The rules are a great idea.  However, I have been a member of a lot of different boards like this, and the problem is that few people actually read the rules.  I predict it is going to create a lot of extra work for the moderators to move/delete all the posts that violate the rules.  A noble endeavor though...  Hopefully most of the users will catch on.

And hopefully we will get some cold weather so we can spend more time fishing and less time shooting the breeze!

I agree also but when you post in general about what's happening on a certain body of water then a mod will tell you to take it to reports and conditions...unless i was seeing things which at 9:30 at night..i might be

I'm leaving those posts alone, ICE LUNATIC... those posts are the "reports" part of Reports and Conditions.

I think any other pertinent information that people can use to formulate an opinion on a body of water should be left...things like where to park or get access, nearest bait shop,  those are all things that deal with the local conditions to that specific body of water.  The way I understand it is if we have a question about a body of water we should start a thread in the NY general section.   I'm totally fine with this if that's the way the moderators want it...anything to make their job easier, however I think you guys (mods) are gonna have a heck of a time with the volume of new posts over on the general thread if this is the case, unless that isn't moderated, but that's just my opinion.

had another thought...I think we just have so many NYers on the board that it's just getting way more cluttered than in previous years. I like the idea (whose evers it was) about having a general section for each lake as well as the reports/conditions and then a separate NY general section.
