then do you bait them with fatheads as well?..was thinking about using rosies too
I've never fished for perch out there with minnows. I know people that do but I always do well jigging with spikes.
That's a Bluegill, no that's a Sunfish...I've heard it both ways!!

I've done both. They've both worked well at different times. I had a nice bass attack a Rosie i was dead stickin in 20 FOW I almost lost my pole down the hole! Was an awesome fight on my light weight pole.

Haha that's awesome. I know minnows can work I just prefer not having to deal with them if I don't have to. Stick my bait puck with my spikes or waxies in my pocket and go lol.
Hey if you ever want to get together out there let me know. I don't target the perch as much as I'd like to because the big gills always draw me.

A couple more Posts and you can see the Reports and Conditions board for Honeoye. Until then you can read the thread just below this one. Bottom line probably on the very South end for tomorrow. Good luck.

Ice on the south west side was the best. Little thinner off of the launch. Fish were active, gills perch and bass and crappies. Caught one big pickerel as well

Anybody on Honeoye have a Marcum RT-9 Sonar GPS Combo?  If so, would they be willing to show it to me when we're out there?

Parents please don't bring your children out on this lake for a fantastic family outing this weekend!! Not sayin us nuts aren't on the ice but there really isn't "safe ice" and it would be a shame to see something bad happen because someone said it's safe. Not a family of four or five holding ice!

Thanks for the report.  I think I'm making the mistake of not making the trip down there.  I wanted to wait until I could fish a little deeper but these rains are killing me.  Every 6 days it comes with 40 degree weather and screws the next weekend up!

I'm going to try and get down there either tomorrow or Sunday.  Is it accessible from the south boat launch state marina?  and does anyone know if there was ice on the 20-25 fow?  If there was then maybe there will be 3-4" out there by Sunday?

Yes, but I don't think they are getting out quite that far yet.  I hadn't heard of too many guys getting past 15 FOW.  Who knows.  Maybe by Sunday with this cold spell.

If they go to the south west side they will be fine. There was 7 inches over there and it was making ice all day and now tonight.
