Marcum or vexilar?

Good stuff.   ;-)

And that's how I got here; trying to make that decision when choosing my first flasher.  After doing a LOT of reading, it appears to be a toss-up... like in Ford vs. Chevy, Mounds vs. Almond Joy, etc.

The way it looks to me:
Vexilar = rock-solid reputation
Marcum = more features for the money, but a not-as-impressive reliability record.

But the most impressive thing I found was that regardless of which one folks had, they loved them.  It seems like a win-win kind of situation!

Tight lines,
Bob

PS: in my own VX-1 vs. FL-8 coin toss, the VX-1 was the winner.

Similar to the AR or AK question on a gun forum. Check them both out & buy one or the other. It's generally whichever blows your hair back :icefish:

Actually the Marcum's and Vexilar's are pretty close to equal. I think you'll find that Vexilar's are slightly more equal than the Marcum's though ...

What about them? You really haven't asked a question.  I could think of about 1000 questions that could be answered by those choices, like which do you own, or which has a red cover, or which should I run over with my truck.
Also please post your location in your profile.

I have both, won't buy another marcum after 8 failures, my 10 year old vex has never needed a repair, just changed the battery this year for the first time.

Just buy one of each return the one you don't like ... too bad most store in Minnesota don't let you return it once used so choose wisely.

I don't know about Vexilar but I can say from my experience Marcum's customer service it top notch and their prices for what you're getting are better.

For the most part yes,  my Fl-8slt get a little interference about 4 feet away from the LX-5.

This.

Besides a graph display being able to show more than a flasher does (arguably), all of the other features make it a no-brainer to me.  You have built-in GPS, can use it in a boat by buying another transducer, you get depth and temperature readings, and after rebate, they're one of the least expensive options.  And, if you really like flashers, they have a flasher screen too!
