Test Ride today with new to me equipment
« on: Jan 05, 2015, 11:53 AM »
Got an ATV for x mas this year, No walking for this guy  ;D
So a few issues have surfaced, normally I walk out and just tow my Nanook. but now I can leave right from the house.
and the problems is, no cover, no Runners, no tow bar.
So this is what i came up with

And had to test my Little Buddy. Works Great

Now all I need is 2 more inchs of back ice to be comfortable out there.

Nice. When you have chance search the bargain page at Cabelas US site, once a while they will have good stuff, I got my tow hitch for ATV and the bear claw from them, although I have to pay for S & H, still cheaper than in Canada.

I'd be a little leary with that weight hanging off the front and going over anything a little bouncy.  How about a small smitty sled and get a simple ATV cover from Princess Auto for your hut.

Pull your hut and this old guy could drive the quad out for ya...just cuz I'm a nice guy!!lol. And where is the pup gonna sit??? See I could haul him out too!!

Awesome MegaRam! Congrats, I am super jealous! I have WAY too much stuff and towing it out by hand sucks...mind you it is pretty much the only exercise I get during the winter :P. Congrats again!!!

Get and otter sled with a tow bar they run 200 bucks at Walmart. You Gan get everything in one and they pull great. Frees up your quad for when you want to use it for other things.

Update on the Test Ride,

Took it out to Dog lake today, ( skunked )

The Bike held up quite well, Really the only weight on the front is the clam and rack. 50lbs. Clam is empty btw.
I took it over trails and down the road, and no movements or weight issues.
Removal is really quick, two Straps and the rack is in a receiver hitch. pull pin and off it comes. everything can be undone in 3min.
Im not sure what my range for driving the bike will be. To be Determined.
is 50km round trip too much?

With a 3.9 gallon fuel tank, 50 Km round trip should not be an issue.  There are a lot of variables to how far one can travel with an ATV.  As you become familiar with your new machine, you will come to know what kind of distance you can travel on a tank of fuel.  My guess is 75 Km round trip might be close to the limit on that ATV?

Congrats on your new toy!
