Great Idea? Take a look!
« on: Jan 02, 2006, 05:59 PM »
This is probably already taken, but i had an idea. When I go out fishing, someone goes and drills holes and I clean the whole that he just did, going hole to hole. I kind of get sick of bending over all the time, getting knees wet, ect.

I had an idea. Here are some pictures. I took an old scoop and nailed it to a 3 foot 1x1 stick. This is great. Dont have to bend over at all! Then i decided for the 06 I/S tourny, I needed a ruler or yardstick, took an old yardstick and nailed it to the back with some finishing nails! Handy tool! But, it is sort of heavy depending what kind of wood you used. Also, it sticks out of your basket about 1.5 feet so it does have a bad site too. I am still working on an extendible ice dipper, which is probably already out there, but I cant seem to find one. Well here are the pictures

Tell me what you think!

very nice idea and the bending over part is great, BUT, if you plan on using the yard stick as a measuring tool for your photos, I think you need to DARKEN IN the NUMBERS with a nice thin BLACK MARKER. But, do a nice job and stay in the original number lines, so you don't get flagged in making your own measuring tool.
Just food for thought.

You could probably make your own telescopic one with a couple of small hose clamps and an old telescopic golf ball retriever

Seeing the picture of the bed as I sit here falling asleep at work is just as tortureous as not having good ice everywhere.  I can't take it anymore. :'(

nice idea...  to reduce the weight, you could attach the scoop directly to the yardstick, but then you lose some of the pike thumping capacity.   ;D
Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo!!

That is a very good idea.  I bought a HT that extends to 36" all metal for 2.95 at sportsman's warehouse here in Colorado.  But it would be nice if it had some sort of ruler.

Heres a pic of it collapsed.

I bought one of these a couple of years back and the thing rusted together when it was retracted had a hell of a time extending it without collapsing it after doing that I sanded the rust of and painted it with spray on graphite no problems since

Thanks for the tip.  I already have noticed a little rust.  I've never seen graphite paint but I'll try and find some.
