Has anyone used them I bought some last year but have not used them wondering if their any good?
crazyfish,
I have three of them that I bought about 6 years ago from the fellow that designed and manufactured them. I don't use them very often, but when I do they work just fine. The rods I bought with them are kinda cheap but they work OK so I never upgraded to better quality rods... maybe someday. They're fun to use when set up for larger fish and although they're somewhat cumbersome to haul around, they fold up so that I can lay them in the bottom of my Nanook or jet sled. The rubber bands don't last season to season but I got a good supply from a friend who's a postal clerk so she saves the heavy duty longer ones for me when she gets them. I definitely recommend using hole covers with them.
I set mine up at home on the dining room table so that I could tweek them in. You have to adjust them to trip correctly by bending one of the guides downward so that it latches in the trip ring (read your instructions). While experimenting, I discovered that each rod should be adjusted to the slammer it's going to be used on and dedicated to that slammer. Once the rod is set to trip correctly, I marked the rod with a colored paint stick and marked the slammer with the same color, and used a different color for each set up. You could probably number them instead of color coding as I did if you wish.
