I'd pass on the dystrophic wasteland known as Desolation Lake and head elsewhere...if it was Eaton so be it.   I've put in too much effort at Desolation with very little return.     But if your someone that likes to set up tipups, sit around all day and is happy with a pickerel or two, and maybe one perch, its perfect.

I'm not familiar with bait shops in that direction. I know hosses country corner carries bait,  not sure if they have any at the moment. Worth a call.

If that doesn't work for you red top hotel in tupper has bait. 15 minutes past eaton.  I know the owner jay is a good guy. And even if he is fishing his wife should be there and able to help!  Good luck!

Ice should be forming nicely tonight!  Conditions should be perfect as far as walking around since the snow melted.  Still, check ahead of you with a spud before you proceed as we had some open water the last few days in spots.

hosses doesnt open until 9 am so if you can pick up bait to get there early i would suggest it - came off of eaton sat 27th and was slim but cold weather hopefully should help that - 3-4 ice w/ some white snow ice - good luck

I went by lake Desolation today. I would wait till next week to go out there. It was good but the rain broke up the shore line.

Also went by lake desolation today shoreline is ruff going to check it in a few days as colder weather and higher elevation might lock it back up the fishing is not the best but it would be nice to get out and test out some new gear

thanks for the info 08fxnytro!
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish.
