Spoon Storage
« on: Dec 16, 2014, 06:05 PM »
I'm not sure if anyone else has figured this out, but I have always struggled with storing my spoons. I hate seeing and hearing them rattle around all the time. I figured out tonight that if I put the top of the spoon in the slots instead of the hooks, they don't rattle around anymore. They also fit in about half the space. Like I said, maybe others have figured this out, but I thought I would share.

I'm not sure, I got it at Mills Fleet Farm a couple years ago. It's pretty standard for the jig foam inserts though.

You can get that exact box at FlyStop.com.  I just ordered on about 3 weeks ago (for flys).  I got the small which probably wouldn't work for the spoons, but they had M and L also.  I think I paid right at $15 for it.

I just ordered a new jig box from a guy on Facebook, Tintes Outdoors, it's it 12" x 9". Double sided, I'll have to post a picture when I get it.

Great idea.  I have many boxes like that for flies as well.  Really like the black and gold support in the background of the picture!

I use a Plano 3600 deep case with no dividers and installed a piece of foam in it and have them in up and down so hook is exposed.   No chip paint and no more tangled mess.

I've seen that done, but when I have 15 spoons I have no idea which one is which. I could write on the foam I guess.

I'm not from Wisconsin. I'm actually from Iowa. I blame the Iowa Hawkeyes from their stealing the Steelers uniforms in the 70's for making me a Steelers fan. I grew up loving the Steelers when I was probably watching the Hawkeyes most of the time.

That is great. I can see how that would happen. Big game Sunday night. A home playoff game would be huge.

Good idea, I think I still like the ammo boxes better for spoons.

Kinda like this?

Works for me, no rattling around and chipping paint, enough showing I can tell what's what, I can even secure dropper chains so they don't get snarled up.

If you get a chance, check out the Custom Jig and Spins spoon box made by Rose Creek...a bit pricey..but I use these to hold my spoons in place. They are locked in place and do not get chipped or scratched...just a thought.....
