New To Ice Fishing 11-Mile and Antero
« on: Dec 14, 2014, 07:58 AM »
Looking to get out to 11-Mile and Antero in the next couple of weeks. I know when I have done some open-water fishing at 11-Mile in the past, I needed to stop at the State Park Visiting Center (or whatever it is called) to get a day pass to be in the park.

Is this still needed to do for ice fishing assuming I have my Colorado Fishing license? If so, how early do they open? What is the process for Antero?

Thanks!

Josh

Antero all you need is your fishing license. 11 mile you do need a day pass ($7.00) but you don't have to wait until the office opens. There are several "pay points" where you can get the pass yourself, deposit the money in the provided envelope and drop it down a drop tube. There's one right by the office also Stoll man. Cross creek and rocking chair areas

When I went there my gps brought me to the bait shop on the lake. If I remember correctly, off to the right up the road a bit there's a brown billboard/sign with the envelopes and drop box. Heading up there in the morning and trying some of the stuff people are talking about using on the forums here. Pretty stoked to get out there. Good luck! If you're in the springs, PM me and we can link up.

Bring exact change for the self pay station. That's something I've forgotten before.

Yeah, exact change is right otherwise you'll be leaving a tip. Sometimes a rather generous tip, if you only have a $20. I'm a man that speaks from experience. Hmmmm13 more dollars or be delayed from fishing by a good hour or so. It was an easy choice, just one I don't want to make again.

When I go to a pay lake I always just drop a check in there. Never had a problem and they cash it. Might be different at 11 Mile. I done this at Crawford,Vega and Island lakes.

A annual park pass is $70 if you save your receipt each time u go $7 you can submit them to the state and they will take off what you have already paid in fees towards a annual pass.

Annual pass is definitely the way to go.  Buy it at the BEGINNING of the month, since it's good through the last day of the month, one year from purchase.  It's like getting a free month!  ;D  Here in Colorado, there are 42 State Parks to explore.  I easily use the pass 15 times at 5 or 6 parks for ice season, and more in the Summer.

The parks pass is a pain in the ass. Most of the time we forget about having exact change (bills) and end up cramming a bunch of quarters in the envelope which makes it to damn fat to slip in the slot. Last time we had to throw in some casino chips from Ameristar plus bills and quarters ;D in the end I think we ended up tipping the state $4 bucks.

Coming from N Colorado I camp at the mile often. I always seemed to get checked for my camping permit when I am the only one in the campground. I have never been checked in the summer there. I don't worry because I always buy a permit.
