My new portable
« on: Dec 29, 2005, 01:02 PM »
I bought it from this guy who made it by himself. Boy is it a great shanty. He welded a frame out of aluminum and used some kind of military canvas he said. And for the side walls he used plastic cardboard. The only problem with it that I have is it has no windows except for these little circle pieces of junk. But I will make windows for it with pexi glass. It is very portable becuase it has skis bulit into it and is a very easy set up.

The plastic does give alot of light but if I have tip ups out and I want to check them I have to get out and check but if i had a window would be much better

That is a fine home made shack! I'll bet this guy could sell a few if he really wanted to.

Nice looking shack. I was thinking of welding up a similar frame and using all rubberized canvas for a covering. How durable is that coregated plastic?

I made one similar to that but it was out of plywood and it was very heavy. That plastic cardboard stuff prob saves a ton of weight, its a great idea. Awesome shanty!!!

Nice little shanty ya got there! Looks like a pretty sweet setup for a portable unit, and pretty roomy too!

Don't be so sure.  Windows fog up real easy.
I always ended up looking out the door until I made my little fan for the windows.

BTW, very nice shack.
Mac

I ripped off your idea Mac!!!  ;D  Much thanks too and it worked pretty darn good!!! I was impressed that it helped ot move around the heat a bit better in the portable also!  Thanks again for your post on that.
