1/4 oz or 3/8 oz????

I am going to the red tommorrow in search of some big eyes ;D hopefully. What size jig should I tie on tonight. 1/4 or 3/8 ????? I will be using Liveees and saltees. Any help is more than I know as I have never been there before. Thanks Reelmaster

I go with a HALIBUT jig, but if you cant find those 3/8 will work great for you.  :)

Try a jigging spoon or jigging rappala.  :)

The amount of current does vary depending where you are (proximity to shore, depth, on a curve), so you really ought to have a bit of variety.  If you are using electronics, you'll need to drill another hole a few feet downstream of your fishing hole so that you can see your jig...if the lure is too light, it will go farther downstream than the cone of your flasher will see.

If you can't hit bottom with your jig, tie on something heavier.

I used both with success......but Thriller is right about the current
....1/4 oz will drift about 1-2 feet :)
