New way to rig mimmows for pike
« on: Nov 26, 2014, 01:54 PM »
Heya guys I seen a new type of quick strike rig or way to rig minnows last year that looked kinda like a quick strike rig but if I remember right the line had a loop in it and went around the minnow.. Have any of you guys seen this way or rigging? I cant find the site or link where i has seen it.
Thanks

I make those rigs myself and call them loop rigs. :)

They can be rigged with the live or dead bait through the loop.
Alternately they can be rigged with the loop above the bait.
I like this way to rig them as the loop is not in the way as much for them chomping down on the bait.

I feel the advantage of a loop rig over a quick strike rig is that the hooks slide and usually hook the fish on the corer or side of the mouth as apposed to the gill area.
If they only get one treble hook in them the other hook will also slide to the side and it's less likely to hook on the corner of the ice.

I caught my new personal best pike last winter at 42.5" X 18.9" came on my own home made loop rig, so I know they work great for big fish. ;D
