I usually use Stihl chains and filed to an angle of about 30° - parallel to the "service mark" that's etched on the tops of each cutter showing the proper filing angle. I have a jig that I put over the tooth to help keep the stroke level and angle close. I find that proper raker height is about as important as chain sharpness in making the chips fly.r2l and TT Thanks for the comments and wishes I can't wait to be done with this snow so I can start spending my time doing some outside fun things.
