The first round of cribbage is in the books. Wife wins 2 games I win 1 :%$#!:

It sure is funny how some times the smallest gestures can make someones day. Our garbage guy is like clock work when it comes to garbage pickup. I am guessing we are one of the first on his route but regardless, every Wednesday at 6:05am he gets to our house. I have seen him on a couple occasions jump out and grab something that didn't get in the truck, not something all garbage guys do, our mailman doesn't when he misses our box.

This morning I rolled the barrel to the end of the driveway at 6:am. I  could hear his truck roaring down the main drag and sure enough he was at our stop at 6:05. He rolled down his window when he saw me and said good morning. I said good morning and gave him a gift card to McDonald's for $10, and thanked him for his excellent service. Talk about someone getting excited, I don't know how many times he thanked me but he was still waving when he got to the neighbors.

Anyway, that made my day. Now back to the game.

WW karma is no where to be seen :roflmao: We have played 9 games and so far I won 3 games. This sucks! :cookoo:

I remember when some people would bring out a cold pitcher of water or bottles of water when we were hammering away on  95 degree days. I was just trying to help make his day a little better.

-21 now, the fire is cranking out some heat.

Good evening , around 3 inches of snow from the storm wind has arrived from the Mid-West overnight wind chill of -25 .
Lil Maggot welcome back congrats on the trout. time passes to quickly hard to believe you are now 18. Have a good remainder of this ice fishing season.
UFCreel welcome back to you also may you get through the below zero temperatures and wind chills with no major problems.
Capt. Jim used your vasline tip Iwas able to open all put one door on my vehicle this morning. All the best with your Bladder. I checked Yoopergirl/Mindy's profile she was last logged in on Jan.2ND of this year and her last post was to this thread back in march of 2018. Hopefully all is well with her.
IFF it seems to be the way of our society that most of us do not see extended family except at weddings and funerals. Hope all went good for your wife in getting her new drivers license. May the hot perch bite still be going when you make your trip.
Eddie I try to keep a pad by my computer and make notes of what everyone is up to helps me in replying to all of the posts here on the 9:45. May you have had a safe journey to work this morning.
FishinJohn I think many of my neighbors are not happy with all of the money spent on long delayed property maintenance projects since it was decided to have both a board of directors and a property management company. Our operating funds are in th e red the new laundry equipment will not help matters. Sorry to read about the lost walleye. Congrats to your daughter on her goal may you get to see the next one she scores. Good to hear your son is learning how to deal with his wrestling losses.
Deerefishyfishy sounds like you had a busy Saturday glad everything went well. with the party and games.
OldSailor looks like Gandalf the Grey has settled in to your home.
Ice Wanderer how did the snow blower lesson go today. Best to you with the Yahtzee games. God thing your handy with plumbing and could hook up the new water heater.
Hunts2long may you receive call to bring wife home before week's end. Also may some of the snow melt before next storm comes your way so there is a place to put the new snow.
Wallyworld congrats to you and Mr.WW on the fish. Agree with you may all ofus get through this bitter cold weather with no power outages.
Tom Turkey sorry to hear about all of your wife's problems may everything get resolved. glad your water heater is back in business.
Whopper Stopper hope you are not burning through the wood pile in house to fast. May the results change in the cribbage games. Very nice gesture to your garbageman.

A warm and safe evening to all of you.

Good Evening Everyone, Snowing here and cold. Looks like ice is finally here.

Whopper Stopper i’m Sure he appreciated that. Not many people do things like that.

Old sailer that is a beautiful kitty. Hoping to adopt a kitty soon.

Got home today from the hospital. Was having chest pain radiating into my back. My wife thought I might be having a dissecting aorta. My mother passed away from that. While there they discovered I was diabetic. Home with metformin and glypizide. I have to watch my diet.

I hope everyone had a good day and a safe one.

                    Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It -10* here on my hill with some wind but not as bad as yesterday afternoon.  A high of 5* is expected. ::)

training went well, I think she'd be able to handle it just fine. :flex:
Marv.........Wow that's cold, I haven't seen temps like that in years. One time MW and I were working in Littleton NH and the temp there was -67*
nothing moved that day. Your garbage collector seems to like his job, it was a nice thing you did, kudos
Lil Maggot.........Welcome back, you sure have grown up. Keep us in mind for future post!

Good Morning ER's, taking Wednesday/Thursday off, found the Hot bite slowed down, Turned out there was too much snow to ride and pull the heavy stroller out on the ice.  Found some slush under the 6" of snow in spots  But the two mile ride out not a problem as the path had been plowed.  Ended day with a total of 16 perch between two of us, and each had a drag screaming battle with large rainbows. All in all a pleasant day out.  Got a surprise visit from the other store manager out on the ice.

Still not much progress on my leg problem.  Continues to be sore to the touch, and swelling as the day goes on.  Time to recharge my drill battery  ;D

Hope everyone is staying warm during this Vortex visit.  Looks like I will be back in the 50* next couple days.

Coffee on, Take care all.

Good morning Eddie ! Good morning everyone

-23 with a -37 wind chill, we are almost over the hump, near +40 by Saturday. About 48 days until spring, even the winter is flying by ???

Eddie glad the mail box post is surviving, I bet your plow drive received some special instructions regarding your house  You are probably on the "Do Not Smash List"  ;D

John best of luck to your kids this weekend

45 sorry to hear about your newest health concerns, best wishes sent

IW I also am wondering how snow blower training went, hopefully you will get missed with any future dumpings

IW your fishing gear still packed ready to go?

I am off to the bus stop in a bit. The cribbage games ended shortly after my last report yesterday, as the s-i-l  rolled in. I got kicked to the curb as she took over game day. When she went to leave her vehicle wouldn't start :%$#!: She ended up taking my Buick home and today I have to try and get her vehicle running.

Hope you all have an excellent day :thumbsup:Stay safe!

Good morning -3 with a wind chill of -7 light wind currently forecasted high for the day is 16 .
FishinJohn best to your children with their sports this Saturday. Have a great time fishing on Sunday.
Eddie happy your mail box is still standing.   I've lost post last couple of days having problems keeping internet connection.
Ice Wanderer good to hear snow blower lesson went well if your drive way is only paved with crushed stone hope you remembered to tell your wife to keep discharge chute pointed aaway from your vehicles and the house don't need a thrown stone/stones doing damage.
IFF have fun fishing may the bite be better today.
Whopper Stopper best to you getting SIL's car started today.
Wallyworld watch the roads during your errands maybe some icey spots with these low temperatures the most commonly used salt (sodium chloride) does not work all that good at melting ice. DOT's in parts of the country where minus 20 temperatures are common might be using Calcium Chloride which works at lower temps. then sodium chloride but is more expensive. It also maybe more corrosive to our vehicles and materials sidewalks and roadways are constructed with so a trade off in keeping roads safe for travel and damage done to them and vehicles.

Stay warm,be safe when outside today. Best to all fishing remember the fishes flesh and eyes can freeze quickly in the bitter cold many of us are currently having in our respective areas. So please try to release any fish you do not plan to keep quickly to limit any damage to them.

Good morning all, a balmy -29 as i write this. All okay here. Other than me helping my way better half. Two weeks ago she slipped off the bottom step going outside and broke a bone on her right foot. I was working and got a call from her at the hospital. To come get her as they would not let her drive. She will be off for at least 8 weeks. Hope the rest of her coworkers can hold the Jail together while she is off. The day before i road a ladder down. Working inside an A frame. A couple of bruises. Dixie the Golden Retriever is getting along well. As is Ava the spoiled Rottweiler. She is 3 now. We went and bought a male Rottweiler Atz. Got him a year ago at 8 weeks. His parents are imports from Serbia. He is now at 110lbs and huge. He is a love bug too. I call him my puppy. When i do my wife calls Ava the princess. Lol! Anyhow the kids are good as our youngest graduated high school early and has joined the workforce. The older one is working two jobs. Work for me is coming in but still slow. After going over everything i had to really jack up my prices. Seems i am getting more of my estimates now. Was able to get out ice fishing once so far around here. Caught a few. Have a small derby to go to on our local lake on Saturday. The wife and i went up to Lake of the woods again in very late December. Between the two of us we caught a combination of 162 Walleye and Sauger, with one perch to boot. She caught the largest fish at 22 inches. We both lost several wall mounters. I saw hers. Big ones! Anyhow i hope everyone keeps on keeping on. Best wishes for those with loved one going through medical issues. Charlie.

-8 this morning but no wind.

Ice-45 Dr. told me to watch diet and get more exercise, I hope following the snowblower counts as exercise.

Old Sailor, nice cat. Wife misses her cat so very much. Had to give it away after the transplant. The people who took it do send a picture once in awhile.

WS, played a lot of cribbage with my Dad. I even beat him once in awhile.

Eddie, right now my mail box is still standing but with all the snow that may be all that is holding it up.

Hope all have a good. Stay warm....h2l

I lost part of a post and now have lost it all!!!!!!!!!

IF-45 having type 2 diabetes is not the end of the world just a different path in how you eat. Get with a diabetes specialist as many regular doctors are not up on treating diabetes. The go to some diabetes education classes as they will teach you how to mange your diabetes.

Every on have a good day and stay safe out doors.

Morning ER's... Update on our new family addition. Seems the shelter sent him home with FLEAS!!!  :woot: We called and they said to bring him in for treatment. They should have caught that before we adopted him and brought him home.  :%$#!: We will be putting him on a monthly flea treatment when we take him in for a checkup by our vet! Other than that he's quite settled in and has adopted our bed as his favorite piece of furniture!!  ;)2

Update---- We took Gandalf to the shelter for flea treatment and Ronda (my wife) asked if we could adopt his sister also!! :woot: The vet at the shelter said she would ensure that she was flea free before we got her, so after therapy I need to go fill out the papers for her!  Everyone have a good day and stay warm!!!

Good Evening, good evening

What snow we got here was just enough to put a top coat on the grass, roads stayed clear, the temps. ,thou, that is a whole different subject, nasty, biting, & bitter, one lake I
went past on purpose today still had no ice on it, the wind had it whipped up bad

O.S. - Two Kittens?, oh boy, Enjoy them both

Lil Mag - Welcome back, - 18 Y.O. - To be that age again, enjoy it while you can, before you know it, you will be age matured just like the rest of us in body, not necessarily in
     mind or spirit, thou

45 - I take metformin for my type 2 also, Dr. is relatively happy with my A1C, I keep in the low 120's for the blood glucose #'s, my dad was diabetic, so the family has history,
I agree with T.T. in that it would be wise to seek out a diabetic specialist & do classes to be informed, good luck with it

H2L - How is the 'boss' doing?

Creel - This is the time of year when accidents occur the most because of ice, 8 - 12 weeks is a long time to be not doing too much, did you get the bruises checked out for
     broken bones ?

I.F.F. - At least the day fishing wasn't a 'goose egg', glad you had fun

I.W. - There is always 'coaching ' from the sidelines now that the 'schooling' is done

W.S. - How is the stretching & exercising going with the back?

Fshnjn - Good luck to the kids on Saturday with the sports, & to all on Sunday fishing

Mrs. W.W. - Correct that it was not a day to be outside, man or beast, at least it will be moderating in temps. for the weekend, could see near 60* here by Sunday/Monday,
no small wonder people are sick

Clean - Glad the Vaseline trick let you into the suv thru 3 doors, better than being frozen out

Mason - going to try fishing again this weekend?

Got paid from the painting job today, cleaned tools out, very happy customer, switch trucks for tomorrow for the next job as handyman, couple of weeks there getting the
house ready for the new H.O.'s, to me usual stuff, change dishwasher, install garbage disposal to sink(electric is already there), some plumbing valves, toilet guts,
nothing big, just time consuming, perfect for me - with my procedure scheduled for Mar. 12, I don't need to start bloodwork & 'pre surgery' testing till Feb. 12, has to
be within 30 days of procedure, just hoping that nothing major is wrong, we'll find out soon enough

Be Safe-Stay Warm-Have Fun-Tight Lines-Records & Limits-Happy Birthday-Good Eats & drink-Get Well Soon
Now is the time for all good men and women to engage in the sport of ice fishing

Yup should have been there yesterday LOL, Stopped in a bait shop, to get some waxies, and heard a couple taking about an Ice rescue that went bad a few years back, at Chatfield Reservoir,  I ask if that was at Kingfisher cove, they said yes, they were both rangers for that water, I then answered, Well now....Your looking at him.  They were picking up minnows and heading to Aurora where I fished yesterday.  They were also admiring a new K-Drill.  I figured they would be heading to the main gate and the marina cove, sure enough I found them just as they were about to head out with their sleds.  I parked next to them and ask if he would like to try out a K-Drill ?  Sure....So I said I would join them as I didn't have a partner for today.  They were also using a Lowrance locator and were not sure how to set it or how it should work.  We each got on the board with small trout.  I moved to not as deep water and got 1 perch, was joined by another new to the lake guy, and invited him to set up next to me.  The last hour was non stop stocker rainbows.  More than likely the new guy will be where I told him was a far better place to get into some perch, so will likely see him Saturday.  He is stationed at Fort Carson, and will be shipping out next month to Singapore.

So for me, need to get my batteries recharged and be ready to hit the ice and slush  Saturday, as it continues to warm up.

Good Morning Everyone,
  Welcome to February!!
-2* with light wind this am, warming up to double digits today, high of 16.

Jeff...glad the snow blower training went well. Sure would be nice if it doesn’t need to be used anymore this season...although we’ve got a ways to go yet! Congrats to your wife passing the course!
Marv...sorry to hear about the SIL’s car breaking down, first thing I wondered was frozen fuel line with that brutal cold? Hope you didn’t have to spend much time out there...yikes!
Wally...the warmer weather coming will be well received...any fishing plans for the weekend?
Steve...good advice on the fish with the temps...couldn’t imagine wet hands with this recent weather.
UFC...hope your wife is doing well and recovering from her fall, ouch! Great trip to LOW, best of luck in the Derby tomorrow!
H2...unfortunate about having to give up the cat, glad the new owners still keep in contact though, very nice!  Best wishes sent to your wife....
OS...might try some mild baths with Dawn dish soap and lots of combing with a flea comb on Gandalf. Congrats on adopting Annabelle!
Capt.Jim...another satisfied customer, well done!      Hope things go smoothly with the new job as well. That sucks about the local lake not locking up....
Bud...congrats on your trips and helping out the rangers.

Early start and quit today. Saw something pretty special yesterday at work. Someone left a brand new scarf on one of the benches with what looked like a price tag attached. When I looked at it, it was a note. It said if you were outside and cold to take it....it was from a local Girl Scout Troop for the homeless people...good stuff!
  Cawfee’s on...
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Good morning gang,

Headed north for a day trip to Sodus today to finally get on the ice this year! Funny how hard it is to get out of bed for work some days but how I didnt even have the urge to hit the snooze button today... and an hour earlier at that! I will try to check back in with a few pics and an update later today.

Don't have time to respond to everyone this morning but:
OS, not sure how old the kittens have to be to use them but we have had great luck with the Seresto flea collars on our cat (Hello Kitty... can you tell I have 2 young daughters?). They are worth every penny of the seemingly high pricetag.

Have a great day everyone! Stay warm and safe, feel better, and good luck if you're going out.
The hardest part of ice fishing is casting!

Early to bed, early to rise
fish all day and make up lies!

Good morning everyone

-1 with a high of +17  this morning.  The wind has died down and the wind chill is only -13  It looks like the bitter cold is out of here and the next couple of days should be pretty nice.

I couldn't get the s-i-l's vehicle to start yesterday. A big part of the problem was even at the high of the day -6, the wind chill stayed at -27 so standing out there wasn't pleasant. I finally told her to just take my car again and I will have it going today. I really don't think there is much wrong it was just stiff as a board. I will let you know how it goes. My old Buick has a tank heater on it and even during the real cold it started right up when I needed it.

My wife found out that her stay at home day will count as vacation. There were only 2 in her office that showed but word from the top was it wasn't that bad, people should have came in ??? Enough on that, believe me I would like to say more. She has to pick up office supplies today for her work. I am going to run in with her as there are cases of water, pop, and the list goes on. She usually donates her time to restock and it ends up being around $350 worth of stuff that she picks up, hauls down there, carries in, and puts away. This also is where I would like to insert something :-X

The living room extra woodpile is down to the last two pieces. The regular woodbox is still full so we used far less than I had anticipated. The wood stove was fired around the clock for 3 days and the whole hose stayed at 70-73 at all times. The best part was that the furnace only kicked on a couple of times which was the whole idea

I am being summoned so have to get going.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.

Good morning. -10 but looks like a warm up on the way.

Capt. Jim, the "boss" is doing well. Now that she has a window view, most of the wires are off so she can get up sit in the chair, go for walks around the floor. If all continues to go well I just may be taking a trip down your way on Monday or Tuesday. I just might see some "bare" ground.

DFF, when I lived in Rochester, I fished Sodus and Port Bay a lot. Hope you have a good trip and catch some fish.

Eddie, that is pretty cool about the scarf. This winter has been a tough one for those that live on the streets. Saw a guy yesterday pulling his shanty with a ATV out from the campsite. Only the second shanty out on this end of the lake. It has to be tough going with all this snow. The big walleye contest is in two weeks so I am sure there will be many more out there.

IFF, always good to meet up with new guys on the ice or water. Over the years I have learned a lot fishing with someone new.

Magot, good to see you are still at it. How fast you have grown up.

Have a good day and be safe....h2l

Just 1 below zero today. No snow on the radar. We have had very little snow the last couple of days. There is a 17 mile ice jam on the Muskegon River west of us.

I snow blowed the neighbors drive yesterday. There was about 14 inches to blow. They were due home last night. The drive had not been plowed at all this winter. I will finish up after he moves his other vehicles out of the way. He has a rust free Jeep that he brought with him from AK. The do not use salt in interior AK so they have some nice clean vehicles.

Our gas company had an explosion and fire at one of their biggest plants in the SE part of the state. We were told to turn our thermostats down to 65*. It sounds like they need to build more compressor plants. There is a plant a few miles from here. Michigan has a huge amount of natural gas. There are a lot of gas wells around here yet they can not get it out of the ground for us.

WS My brother wanted to put a tank heater on his Suburban before he left VA for Ak. He could not get one in VA so he had to wait until he got up their. He had put a cow catcher on the front of it to hold screen to keep the rocks out of the grill on the Alcan. He had a deer smash the side of it in VA not hitting the front. He was at a camp ground just before he got on the Alcan. There was a guy comming down that gave him the screen off of his vehicle so he did not have to buy any. The guy said he was never going back up the Alcan.

When our mother went to visit them in AK she brought me back a couple of Fairbanks news papers. It took me a while to figure out why the rental houses said plug in included. DUH It was to plug in the engine heaters.

It is time for your wife to start charging the boss for getting supplies if he is that petty. How much time until she can tell the guy where to put his job?

OS A cat or kitten would not fare well around here. Our dogs go crazy when one of the numerous wandering cats go through the yard. It is a a wonder that their are any rabbits left around. We had some baby rabits in a bunch of lillies in the front yard last summer. I think those dang cats got them all. if it was not so far to the animal shelter I would live trap them all and take them on a trip.
