Sunday : Camp lake .....
4 guys , hiked in with pull sleds.. beautiful weather ,just awesome to fish in sweaters and no gloves..
well we tried our luck in camp lake in the morning. perch and more perch , were talking 6 inch perch that just annoy crap out of ya..
we couldn't get away from them , they were everywhere.. caught a few smaller rainbow trout , but nothing like the real camp lake can be..
(had many big trout days on camp in the pass) no this trip .. lots of traffic buzzing around.. might be to blame..
so we packed up and hiked back to Lyons lakes ..
its nice to do these hike in lakes once in awhile .. you feel one with nature.. seen eagles and owls and dead deer parts , wolf tracks , squirrels humping in the trees , blue jays , some insects we starting to come alive... nature its great!!! FRESH AIR ..
Lyons Lake had heavy traffic on it.. people in every corner of the lake.. tried the east shore line..
slow for us but heard of others who did well for small to medium trout.. we got one nice splake and few flies buzzing around us..
never been so happy to see a fly .. lol
Tuesday.. HUNT lake.....
well we can only fish trout right now.. so lets try another trout lake... Hunt lake this year has probably been the best trout lake this year for producing big big trout.. stocking program dumped the big adults in this lake and in a few others.. but most stories I heard of big rainbows and browns came from hunt lake.. .. tuff going in the morning, trout were there but just wouldn't take the bait .. ended up getting a few small brook trout and few small splake, ... 7-10" range , just little babies , but action to keep the blood flowing..
had enough of hunt .. lets do West Hawk lake.....
got out peanut island fish 70 fow and fished 45 feet down , and got me some lake trout... caught me a nice 26" black black lake trout.. very unique looking trout.. so ugly that these trout are cute.. landed a few more 15" lake trout and called it a day..
UPDATES with ice conditions ... SLUSHY and only getting worst as it warms up.. so snowmobiles stick to trail or you will be screwed and get stuck ...
lots of ice under the slush... we will be able to fish for awhile .. so pack rubber boots and sunglasses and sun screen,,
trust me you will need those three..
