some perch and smelt

went out perchin on Tuesday and got 70 keepers. then went out smeltin yesterday and ended up with 220 of the tasty little buggers

that's the pile of em watin for cleaning,

a nice double the best I had that day was a triple.

no my vex isn't messed up they were over 7 foot thick in a school!!!

Perch were out of chaumont bay and the smelt its a secret spot.

Smelt through the ice is so much fun! Its constant action and they are quite tastey too. Its cleaning all them thats a pain in the neck lol

Never caught them through the ice but smelt are my favorite fish to eat but they are a pain to clean since you need a mess of them for a meal.  I deep fry them every Christmas eve for the family fish feast

I heard you eat them with the bones???    How do you cook them???  They just look so small and what about meat?? How much can be on one?? Looks like fun to catch but to clean all of them. IDK :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Gut them cut off the heads dredge in flour and fry, and eat whole smaller the better as far as I am concerned, not my favorite but their alright haven't had any in years though.

i cut the heads off with a pair of scissors and gut em that way too. deep fry em in flour bread crum mix and eat em with cocktail sauce. 25 of em is a good meal generally

Nice catch. It most take 5min. to get those jigs down 69' I caught a few smelt this year while Perch fishing in 54' on a #3 Rap and barely had the patience for that to get down.
