Work has been extremely slow this winter, giving me plenty of time to hit the hardwater. Lately, I've been fishing a shallow, fairly large private lake for bass and panfish. Today the action was all on tipups
right below the ice on medium to large shiners above 6-10 FOW on weedline edge/dropoff. It seems the panfish are moving out of the main basin of the lake onto the edges/dropoffs anticipating iceout, would assume it is the same at other lakes. All bass were released. Total take from today:
Similar results from the other day, including a SOLID 20" 4.5-5 lb largemouth and several others in the 14"-17", 2-3 pound range. All bass were released to fight another day. Scale pic of a SLAB 11" crappie and a nice 10" white perch:
