Wow, came accross this article today...

Enormous lake trout far heavier than world record, but there’s a serious snag:
Minnesota angler seems to have exceeded limit, 52-pound fish seized.

He screwed up. You don't catch your limit and give it away and keep fishing.

He screwed up is an under statement...
That sucks for him, but you have to follow the law. It would be hard to toss that monster back for sure..
