If you missed it tonight they will probably run it again in the morning. They paint a grim picture.

Damn things are eating everything down on the ocean floor, I fish Casco bay its crazy how many GC are down there. I believe that they could be eating all the smelt eggs/fry and now no more smelt. Very bad situation, Ive seen these crabs drive lobsters right out of entire bays. Need to have markets to get people out there fishing for these crabs.

Related to this topic, just got this note from a co-worker:

The Yarmouth Middle School currently stands 4th in the country for their preliminary work in researching the invasive European Green Crab and it’s devastating effect on Maine’s $11 million clamming industry. They have the opportunity to earn $140,000 in technology funding from Samsung to further pursue this initiative. *And the best part is, you can make an impact simply by voting for this project.* The Top 5 project will be reviewed by a panel of scientists for the technology grants. Please support both local students engaged in the sciences as well as the clamming industry in Maine by voting here: http://www.samsung.com/us/solvefortomorrow/projects/taking-care-of-crabiness.html
