Does anyone know if the locks on the hudson are safe yet?  Up near Waterford?

Not sure about down in Waterford, but at Lock 5 in Schuylerville, it doesn't look safe at all.  Tight lines.

I fished lock 5 about 2 weeks ago there was only 2 inches of ice. With about an inch of slush on top. I fished the coves in Schuylerville 3 days ago and there was 7inches of ice.

Saw two guys fishing the locks in Stillwater on my way to Saratoga friday afternoon.  Doubt it is safe any more.

Sounds like you answered your own question about what gets caught.  The other part of your question is the ice is dependant on the conditions of the river.  If it gets a sudden rise like last week, the locks start to turn till it gets extremely cold again.
