Big Lake Trout Through the Ice

Went out to Cold Lake for some Lake Trout action twice in January. Turns out we just did not hit it right either day on the ice. The first day only managed to catch one fish period. That was the only bite as well. This video is from our second day out. The weather was awesome in the morning but a storm blew in and shut the fish right off. Caught two lake trout in the first 5 minutes. Super slow all day. They were hitting the smelt on the jaw jacker but getting off before I could even get to the rod. Lost a few short strikes and then hooked up on the last one in the late afternoon to avoid a skunk for myself. Slow day and most people left early. Didn't see anyone catching out there.
