any do it yourself guys ever think of this?

was talking fishing with a buddy at work today. here in central ohio, a foot of ice is usually the max, so i don't have any exp. with power augers. anyway my buddy said his buddy made a power auger out of a weedeater. i'm thinking they would have to be geared down some, with that many r.p.m.'s  if they ever caught they'd rip you're arms off. he said he saw it work and it worked great. if it could be done, i'd be more inclined to use it for fishin than it's intended purposes. anyone ever heard of this?

dont know about the weed wackers being converted however have noted someone using portable drills...

two friends of mine have Husqvarna ice augers power heads, even the gear box...the same as the weed wackers,pole saws all they had to do was buy a lazer auger bit .....they were more than my jiffy ...prob.around 500$ but it is lighter
