I read in another thread that the wardens went across it wih the airboat and checked thickness . They reported 6 inches out there over to Jordan's store Could this be true ?Not a ton of snow out there and its been sub zero nights . . . . ?
It is amazing how little snow it takes to slow down the ice making process significantly.
What is the over/under for the number of vehciles or snowmobiles going through the ice this weekend on Sebago?I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable event!Have a great day! - ZG -
This storm coming will make things difficult for all of you. The slush will be the least of your problems. Traveling away from the shores in the big bay, will be like Russian Roulette. I hope no one gets wet!
Is it safe to assume you'll be sitting this one out Bob
we got too much snow after the ice set in the big bay so the shoals are off limits.
two trucks, 1 sled, and one warden on a four wheeler wasnt the warden the first to go in during the last time sebago froze over for a derby
I had a friend go out sunday out past point sebago and he said there was 6-9 inches in that area with the most out further. I stopped into a store today. Four wardens showed up with an air boat who had been out across the big bay and said they saw no less than 6 inches and didn't break ice with the boat....hard to believe seemings how it just froze last week. I am just reporting what I heard, and wont be out in that area. My shack is on 12 1/2 inches of black ice and I will stay in the area
Snowmobile went in on Sebago « on: Today at 05:03 PM »QuoteJust left Jordan's store, was talking with Carrol and he told me a sled went in out in front of the store somewhere. The guy made it but I heard the sled was on the edge dangling there in 40 fow. Who knows now.
With the big snow on its way will the people in charge make a change in the location?
Go about eight posts down in this thread to see how fast lake ice forms in optimal conditions based on average 24 hour temperature (if you click the small graphic on the right the chart expands). Snow slows it down but ice slows it down too - the more ice, the slower it freezes. http://www.lake-link.com/forums/Ice-Fishing/discuss.cfm/94858/How-much-ice-per-hour
