I actually modified my "turkey fryer" a few years back and ended up with something a lot like that.  I took a notch out of the support ring to allow the handle of a big cast iron pan to fit down on the burner.  Works like a dream.

Looks like that one should work well!

They work great . We have 2 . Normally use one for fish and the other for frys , onion rings , poppers and battered mushrooms . We have some big fish frys and you can cook a lot of food fast .

It's the only way to go when cooking for a large group of people.

That's a good price. I have one and use it in the summer for fish boils. We use it to heat water for canning, also. Too big for a small meal. I got one for my son for Christmas and paid somewhere around 40$.

I have one at the house.  It has fried just about everything under the sun at one time or another.  Gotta love frying outside because you have none of the cleanup.

beware the elcheapo ones.  i had one and all the parts were so crappy, i had to replace them to the point where it wasn't worth the low initial price.  also the aluminum pots those things come with are junk and will start to warp quickly.  i bought burners and had a friend weld me up a double cooker.  its lasted a long time.

Replace the aluminum pan with a cast iron dutch oven and you will have a great cooker.   Holds the heat much better if your doing multiple batches.

Wow I love the American prices on things. My cousin did up a Turkey in a big version and it was amazing. You need to measure the liquids properly or it gets dangerous dropping a Turkey into hot oil over a flame, he also makes amazing wings..

27 bucks OMG up here Min $50

first thing i would do with that is cut that support ring off so my big lobster pot would fit on it along with my 17 inch lodge frypan. mine doesnt have that pot holder ring and without it you can do more types of  cooks

don't burn the oil.  350 degrees for vegetable oil, 375 or 400 for peanut oil, don't remember.

Well you certainly can.  And if it gets too hot it can start a fire that is almost impossible to put out.  Do not cook on a deck of your cabin or house.  If you do and the oil BURNS your house will too.

Unless you have your fryer on dirt, put down a piece of cardboard or newspaper. Makes cleanup a lot easier. Fish and potatoe chips aren't usually a problem but if you cook a turkey or a chicken and there is ANY moisture in it, it will react VIOLENTLY with the oil and oil will go EVERYWHERE. It's at this point where the fires usually start. If there is any doubt, lower it SLOWLY and let the moisture escape. Don't drop it all in at once. Two more tips, don't over fill the pot and use peanut oil. Have fun:)

Got an older one 150K BTU Sounds like the burner on a hot air balloon.   Used it last fall with a 30 gal. cast aluminum pot to make corn on the cob for 50 Boy Scouts.   You can scorch oil before it ignites and food will be  if you do so watch the heat.  350-375 is ok. More is danger 450 is fire. Slap a lid on it and hope it stays in the pot.

Use mine all the time. Great for doing 10 lbs of chicken wings at a crack.  Once you do fish Oils are shot for other foods fish spreads flavor through the oil.

I have one like the picture below. It is great for fish and chips at the same time. We use it for a large fish fry we do each year , the wide and long pan holds a lot of fish. We use tongs to remove fish as we add fish of different size etc. and keeps the "hot" fish coming out non-stop. The mesh table is removable and a nice feature. As others have posted keep an eye on your oil temp too hot and it will burn (turn black or turn into flame!) We have used it to boil corn etc also great multi use cookers.

P.S.  I pour some of the used oil in the fire pit (a little as it is flammable after 350 degrees) We have the best smelling camp fire in the area.

Not sure of brand, I picked it up at Cabela's 5-6 years ago for around $80 bucks.

This is what I use...The CC320 uses the JETC32 burner and produces 320,000 BTU weight 59#
http://www.cajunshoppe.com/crab.htm

It will throw a flame 4 feet high and get a big pot of oil to 275 in about 13 min on medium heat! Its a bit overkill but its more fun when you have an element of danger to it!
