Was thinking would be a good Idea to have a Michigan Ice Shanty Gang fishing get together. anyone interested and have any hot spots in mind.

i would be in...and i can almost guarantee my buddy ReelWetRide would be interested too. i don't know about an area...maybe a central location with a lot of lodging, watering holes, etc. first thought is houghton lake, but just a thought.

I think its a great idea, and no better time to start a tradition than the present. numbers might be low the first time, but what can you do. im a single guy, and could head to the UP in the morning, but completely understand most of the great IS members are unable to. let's keep this thread alive and get some feedback.

What about Houghton Lk,kind of centrally located and has plenty of lodging.

I'm at Houghton Lake, with a Quad to haul gear. If the snow's not too deep, I have a 5 X 8 trailer I can haul out. People, gear, or both can ride. We need a guide. Dach? you listenin'?

Heres an Idea! How about the 7th of Jan to get it in Before Tipup and after the Holidays?

Houghton Lake if thats alright with the rest of you?? Just a suggestion.

Houghton Lake
January 7th
South DNR Launch
meet 7:30-8.00 am

Lymans bait shop is close by and opens at 7.00am so gives us time to get bait and a cup of coffee. And if anyone can help with getting members to and from fishing area, that would be a big help. So come and join the fun and fishin!

I may be gone that weekend but if I can get out of what I have to do I'll try to be there but can't make it until a little later in the morning if I do.Is someone going to have a 2 way radio so I can find you guys?

Do we need:
transportation? - I have a quad. Can pull my 5 X 8 trailer if the snow is not too deep. How far of a walk is it?
food? - that's a stupid question?
Spill Proof minnow bucket for Dachmation? (it's a long story) (probably about like the chicken feathers)
Does everybody need their own minnows?

I'll have one power auger.

I'll be out of town till the Thursday after Christmas. I'll check back then. I believe I'm the only one in the World going to Lincoln Nebraska for Christmas?

im thinking about it if you dont mind us ohio guys joining i have always wanted to try that lake how far of a walk is it im not sure i'll have my sled back from the shop by then i sure hope so its hard pulling the shanty, electronics,auger, heat & bait by hand

Not sure where we will be fishing yet, but hopefully as it gets closer to the date will have more info. And thanks to all that have transportation that can help people get out to the group area. Hopefully by then Dach will have located the hot spot. If anyone has any further info or suggestions to make this event better dont be afraid to speak up. oh and you dont have to be a michiganer to join us, and would enjoy to have kids with us as long as with a parent.

with this warm spell, i may need to go as far north as houghton lake to walk on hard water. j/k...it does seem as tho the thread has had interest lost. i don't think i can come up for the get together, but really want to. keep the pressure on the guys that can. We need a count. Who's planning on fishing Saturday morning? Mike, I assume the ice is sufficient for the Quad, right? I have no idea on where to fish that side of the lake. The Quad will give us some mobility. I drive a Green Silverado. Yellow Polaris Sportsman on the trailer behind.

I'll be up Friday afternoon to get things ready. Lookin forward to it. Will be my first time out this year.
