How's This For A Yellow!

My 7 yr old son pulled this up, while I was messing with the settings on my new ice machine. This is the first fish we've caught using a sonar.

I agree Joden. I love a plate of Cornmeal breaded perch every chance I get.

Keep eating your Bass and whites you guys never did know what was good to eat up their anyways.  That fish is a clean looking as it gets I see not one spot on it or grubby like I know some lakes get. Do yourself a huge favor and clean like 5 of those things Fillet them out and dredge them in flour and egg and bread them with corn flake crumbs.  Try just a couple and get back to us on how that flavor was. If you do not like them then their is no hope for Mainahs.

Give my congratulations to your son Bassinassassin . I do find it funny how certain species of fish are prized in one area and considered undesirable in others.

I love my perch. But, I'd be pretty upset if I caught one on a backwoods trout pond. I get why they don't care to see them in certain areas.
You guys should start eating them up there. Sad to say that they aren't going anywhere once they're established. If you can't beat it... Join it. They're good eats!

Any of you ever try the  “poor man’s shrimp” yp?  Doesn’t seem to work with any other fish I’ve tried.

Bring ample water to a boil with some old bay seasoning.

Cut yp fillets in shrimp size strips.

Drop in boiling water for 20 seconds, no more

Chill in iced water bath immediatley!

Drain. Serve with cocktail sauce.

Hard to find yp that aren’t grubbed up or over 7 inches  up here :-\

I like my fillets in  jiffy corn muffin mix. Dry em and dredge em  in  beaten egg with just a touch of half and half. Fry em in about 1/4 inch of canola oil. A garlic salt love sprinkle after they are golden brown. Great for perch and walleye. Try it. If you don't love it, I will eat them for you.
