Bite different from year to year?

I have tried my usual lake this year a few times and it seems that the results are far different from past years. Meaning, pretty much no luck at all! Has anyone else experienced a similar result this year or does anyone have any opinions why the bite mite be so different from year to year? It also seems like I am not marking as many fish as in years past. In previous years, this lake has proven to be what I consider at least an average yield. Mainly we target bluegill and crappie. Reasons or opinions ?

I too have lakes change from year to year, not sure if I have the same weather conditions moon, wind direction or barometric pressure. The only things that have been the same, vexliar and hot spots from the many lakes I fish.
