2005 Winter Trout Stockings
« on: Dec 14, 2005, 06:14 AM »
Does anyone know why they rearranged all the dates lakes would be stocked in the winter? There use to be a section for Late Winter and Winter and now there is just one for Winter. A lot of lakes have been added into earlier dates that were suppose to be stocked in February and will be stocked this or next week. A couple of lakes such as Moon Lake and Lackawanna Lake aren't even on there anymore as well.

there was a problem of some sort to one of the hatcheries not sure of all the details but they lost quite a bit of trout and had to rearrange the way they stocked.

A number of lakes statewide have received or are about to receive substantial stockings of trout that were previously unplanned due to an unanticipated windfall of extra adult trout from Wellsboro research station.  Some fish were also available from the Bellefonte PFBC hatchery.  Some of these lakes were already stocked for the winter and will now be receiving a second stocking.  Others were unscheduled for a winter stocking.  These scheduled and previously unplanned winter stockings are not going to detract from the late January and February stockings.  Keep checking the PFBC list of winter stockings and pay attention to the asterices next to the lake names.  In some cases lakes will receive as many during the December stockings as they receive in spring.  Should make for good fishing.
