I do alot of soup on the ice and always bring a stainless steel spoon. I'm curious and I'm gonna give that a try! Sounds like a simple solution, got plenty of spoons in the drawer, more bait money saved.

For me the problem of gas smell is not on my hands but it seems to be mainly permeating from my bibs after a night of chili, beer, and hard boiled eggs ....
Helps keep me really warm though!

On my.... Oh, fishing rod. :woot: I carry one of those "travel size" little bottles of hand disinfectant in my tackle box with some plain washcloths. Just scrub the rod off and wipe clean, I've had it happen before.

Wouldn't the fish smell the sanitizer on your reel and line?

Does anybody know for sure that gas smell repels fish ? Ihave heard of people spraying WD 40 on their lures to attract
fish and they say it works. WD 40 smells somewhat like gas.

I've used the stainless soap bar thing many times, works good on fish smell. But I haven't noticed catching less than whoever is fishing with me, no matter if I have cig smoke on my hands, gas from drilling or filling generator.

was going to order a wonder bar till it was 6.00 plus for shipping which would come to 16.00 plus  anyone else have this wonder bar?

The Wonderbar is simply stainless steel.  Any stainless steel, including cutlery, will do the same thing as a Wonderbar.

i use different gloves and then i also use anise extract.

but rubbing a dead shiner or some attractant on your hands would not hurt either....

Cutlery?
I guess the smell of blood would help wash away the gas smell too!  ;D
