Stupid question but help please !!!!

Ok I have ice fished for 25 years now and always had a power auger, last year I got a Nils 8" hand auger for Christmas, it has only been out twice since then and now it will not cut.  I ordered a new head from Fish USA ( $95 freakin dollars) so I can use it while the other head makes a trip to Frank DeLuca for sharpening.  My question is, how do you use a hand auger?  Do you place absolutely no weight on one of these when cutting?  I have never used one until this Nils and if it was something I did to the blade I do not want to make the same costly mistake again.  Thanks, Darrin.

They say absolutely no downward pressure on a Nils since it is an actual ice auger instead of a drill. Whatever that means I will leave to the Nils experts.

No pressure, use both arms and down she goes. Absolutely do not bang the cutting head on the ice after you drill a hole to remove slush. During the off season make sure to give the cutting blade a nice coat of penatrating oil to prevent rusting.
