Keith I have had a Ford F150 4x4 a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 and now have the Silverado 1500 4x4 with the big V8. By far the Silverado has been the best. The Chevys don't seem to get the wheel well or door panel rot the others get either.

Not to hijack the thread rather add to it',,,I heard the new F  150 is going to. E made of aluminum! Not sure what I think of this...I can think of advantages and disadvantages...

I have alway been a Chevy gmc guy but the Tacoma off road size and mileage suits me best.   But that said I would look at an aluminum f150

Yes, it sounds like an Insight will fit nicely in the bed of that new truck. You can deploy it like an aircraft carrier, probably drive it right out on the ice!

Unfortunately a new truck and an aircraft carrier use about the same amount of fuel.  ;D

Keith, my only advice to you is think long term (5-8yrs)  not short.
Many analysts are predicting gas prices to reach rates as high as $6-$8 a gallon by 2020 (6 years, about how long your new loan will be)

Lots of great info guys! DODGE is not even a possibility! Won't go there! I have an F-150 super crew 4 door.  2003 with 197, 000, I'm thinking this will be a tough decision. I don't care about towing, never will. Gas mileage is the only big concern I have. I don't care if its a rocket either. I don't really care to drive like a race car driver :-) Roomy cab & gas mileage main concerns. And of course long lasting! Thanks again, keep the info coming :P

Yes sir

Not really

From what I was told this is going to be the flag ship F150 so its not the basic model they sell for like 20k, its going to have luxury features and new engine. my only wish that ford was going come out with a diesel engine option in the F150 like that got 23+ MPG. But that most likely would raise the cost another 8k, all we can do is hope they add it to the line up some day.

Whats the most youll be moving around in it, your ice gear? If so, Im telling you a hatchback will work.

I drive 550miles a week just back and forth to work, and fill up once for about $30.

It may not be the coolest or manliest car out there. But im not driving it to impress anyone. And if you need a vehicle to prove how manly you are..well there are other issues at play there..
Im driving it to get me to work, and to where I want to fish without costing a fortune in gas.

I am a huge Grand Cherokee fan, as long as were talking 2004 and earlier prior to the change to the Mecedes 3.7L and drivetrain.  My 2002 has 199k and runs amazing.  Gas mileage sucks but in 4low with the tires I have I can get through a lot.

If you have had good luck with Ford Keith than stick with them. My last two vehicles (truck and explorer) were fords and I had great luck. Also had great luck with my Chevy's and Dodges (I've owned 7 trucks now I think).

I just bought a 2004 Tundra and couldn't be happier. Crew cab, 6 1/2 foot bed, small V8 with bed cover, get about 18.5 mpg. and it's got 150k on it (a new truck doesn't fit in my budget)  It was a 1 owner vehicle and the guy drove 50 miles each way on the highway to work and was not an outdoorsman or sportsman...just liked the truck and all scheduled maintenance has been done to it. If a Ford crew cab would have fit in my garage I would have bought another Ford but the Tundra it was and it's a great truck.

You'll find what suits your needs. Then just let us know what you get so when we pull up to a pond we know if it will be a rough day for us  watching you catch bass all day.

It's all ball bearings these days......

Ford, Chevy, GMC = Marcum, Vex, Hummingbird.

Everyone's got opinions, but I'm pretty sure they all work.

But Fords and Marcums are the best.
 ;D
Flags up, gentlemen!!!
