favorite jigging rap color for oneida.
« on: Jan 07, 2014, 04:48 PM »
Just wondering what everyones favorite color rap is for oneida eyes and perch. I usually stick with blue and silver or firetiger, #3,#5. Anyone have any luck on the green or blue glow tiger. I also run a very small hasp on my spoons and raps for quick change. Anyone feel this would make fish think twice.

Black and silver, and glow perch - more natural than fire tiger. Heard there is a new lure out there that is similar to jigging rap, but glows like crazy. Think they are called mooneyes? Guy at bartells sells them.

I heard the moonshines arent a bad option either, havent tried them yet though. Have had zero luck on the jigging shad rap though, unsure why. In any case i bought a few new color raps im going to give a go over the wknd.

The Glow color in 7cm.
Of course it works best with, you guessed it, a perch eye.

I say any of the smallest sizes in raps.. I like gold but like anything resembling perch patterns best. I like rigging a few combos and switching until I find which lure works best.. usually the perch one works best.

I ordered 2 dozen this yr, the normal colors, and a few of the green and blue glow, and some hot steel. The hot steel did well for me last year, blue and silver is my go to though. All size 3 and 5. I know bigger will work but i want the perch to grab it if they arrive as well.

waldos ate the 2's and the perch swam by the 2 to go up 2 more feet for the 3.  go figure.

every color has its purpose, cloudy days, sunny days, the time of day, color of the water, how much snow is on the ice ect... figuring out the rhythm or puzzle is what its all about, got to own them all...

I've had the same thing with the perch. Target them with the #2 and they won't look at it. But drop the #5 down and they shoot up off the bottom and slam it.

Depends on their mood but don't always assume the smaller sizes are going to be better.
