The cold makes me feel like an old geezer. :D Think just the jigging rods, spud bar, auger and shelter... and layers of clothes. No messing with shiners.

Good thinking, except that you'll never be an old geezer.  :)

as we get older it does not get any better. I have only fished in -14 once in my life, it was drill a hole put a tipup in and go get warm then repeat the same, sit in the shanty and hope not to run out of propane

It was -14 when I got to the spot I am at now.  No wind and the air is dry, its cold but manageable.  First thing I did is set up the shanty and heater.

Guys,

I hear a lot of complaining here... But we all made the choice to go out and brave the elements.  None of us here are "in survivor mode" trying to secure a single morsel of food for our starving families... We're all beyond addicted...we're just plain sick! The things we do for the love of the sport! LOL

Hope to meet up with some of you guys soon!

its raining here pretty good. if the base layer holds and it gets cold enough tonight this rain may turn the snow on top into a pretty good little layer

boy are we optimistic or what?

think of 50 and rain as a zamboni, helps me sleep at night
