Going to give it a try today although I don't have a huge amount of confidence in that place since the flood-  let you know;

How deep were you fishing?  I've never ice fished over there before, just out of the boat.

Desoto Bend is an oxbow lake that was created when the Missouri River was channelized so the lake is shared between Iowa and Nebraska.   Even though it is on the east side of the river the land "inside" the lake is actually Nebraska because it was Nebraska before the bend that now forms the lake was cut off to straighten the river.   Thirty years ago I used to muzzle loader deer hunt on the land surrounded by the lake and the permits were issued by Nebraska.

Some type of parasite, likely those cysts contain thousands of microscopic protozoans.  If you want to eat the fish, they are fine, especially if you ain't eating them raw.

Fished Desoto for a few hours yesterday, saw a few on the flasher, but couldn't get anything to bite.  Caught one 10in catfish.  Guys around me were having similiar success.

We fished all over, early morning till around 2:30, 1 small gill and a carp. There were many fisherman out early, moving around a lot. There was one guy left out there when we left and headed for summit. Ice was good!
