Had to get out fishing today even if the temp was hovering around -30F.

So we threw some wood in the shanty and stoked it up.

10 minutes and 110 degrees later, it was time to fish! We managed to catch a bunch of nice char and a multitude of small salmon. Some of the char caught were REALLY bright! They reminded me of spawning brookies, and the one pic shows the brilliant colors, (would have been better if I hadn't stuck my arm in the way.) All fish were released unharmed and un-named.

Nice char around 3-4 lbs. pictures can't do them justice!

Man, looks like an awesome outing. I've always wanted to fish Arctic char. Nice pics.

Looks pretty cozey in that shack too

. If I lived closer to a decent lake I think I would build myself a permanent. Can't beat the comfort.

Looks like lots of IS boys made it on the ice yesterday.

Beautiful fish, there's nothing like being in a shanty with the woodstove cranking when it's so cold outside. Your kids will remember these days for the rest of their lives.

Nice pics and beautiful fish. I'd gladly trade you some warm weather for some shots at some good ice fishing like that!!!! I'm really tired of waiting on things to ice up enough to fish here in Indiana. The closest thing we've got to that beautiful of fish are some rainbows and steelhead. FWFeecherman If only I could send it south! Today it hit a beautiful 25 degrees!!!!!! A heat wave to our standards. Walked around in a tee shirt outside basking in the brisk tropical air.

WW, You know the fish biologists keep arguing the same thing! Char or Dolly?

Heck they can't even draw a conclusion. I'm confused? So I call them char because the bucket biologists told me so!
