yup--toting a uw cam on ice is a chore; but still an invaluable tool. No comparison with a flasher under the right conditions.
I've used it with success in shallow stained water. Those who consider a cam but a gimmick or toy-- that's fine. Keep your eyes trained on those colored blobs. I'll be watching real fish in real time & increase my catch rate considerably...

I personally love the idea of a the new vex fish phone, but for recording I use this:

For $65 dollars you can record anything that can output on a yellow RCA plug onto an sd card.  It works well...here's my shot from last season.

 There are all sorts of underwater cameras on eBay that output on a RCA plug.  You can pretty much pick your price range and go from there.  I love it...but it's not for everyone.
