They may be ok as long as the batterys dont die in the cold about 18 years ago I made some battery operated jig rods with a small battery operated moter and cam shaft with a wire with rod on a pivet like a see saw it worked great but the only two down falls were the battery going dead in the cold and every time the line would raise up and down out of the water heavy ice would quickly build up on the line. But hey for 20 bucks might be great!
May the LORD BLESS and keep each of you safe on the ice.

I am buying the jig up this year, the new battery operated tip up. I hope the batteries stay working and I can make it just barely jig the bait instead of aggressively jigging, as aggressively jigging generally doesn't work in Colorado.
Politically incorrect, and proud of it.

It doesn't matter if you didn't catch anything as long as you had fun.

Funny how you guys are down on battery operated stuff.
I made a set of tip ups a couple of years ago, HT Polar-therm Extremes that have a 9 Volt battery with a light that flashes on the flag and a tiny but loud pizzio tweeter that screams when the flag goes up. The batteries have been in them for three years and still have plenty of juice and have never failed in sub zero weather.
I can't speak on a battery running any kind of motor but as far as a simple flashing light and screaming tweeter they work great and last a long time.
If I agreed with you we would both be wrong!
